Hyper-V and Longhorn RTM version ;) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok, so - longhorn is out Wink And Hyper-V is still in technical preview.

How is this going to continue? I mean, we all know that Hyper-V will come within 6 months (at least if the announced plans stand)...

...but in the meantime the preview is part of the Longhorn RTM install, without any patching.

    * Will there be updated, previews, betas during the 6 month period? I would assume so.

    * In what form will they come? Patches to Longhorn? Windows Update?

After all, the Hyper-V preview now IS part of the OS, so - the whole update thing a little unclear to me. This is the first time MS has shipped preview level tech as part of a core OS.

How will this be handled? How often can we expect updates?

  • Actually - it is the Hyper-V beta that is included in Longhorn RTM.  We have not announced how updates will be handled between now and the Hyper-V RTM.
