EDB encryption RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
MSDN describes how EDB will be encrypted if a password is supplied in a CEVOLUMEOPTIONS structure supplied to CeMountDBVolEx

wszPassword  Password-protects and _encrypts_ the volume

There are no details on what type of encryption is used.  I am guessing AES128 but need to be sure.

Does anybody have any clarity on this?

    Much appreciated

  • Hi James,

    WM6 (EDB 3.1) uses RC4-MD5.  WM7 (EDB 3.5 SP1) uses AES128 with fall back to 3DES.

    Best regards,
