How do I start Visual Studio 2015? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I downloaded and installed VS 2015 Community. I can't find how to start the application.

Under All Programs there are two items, Developer Command Prompt for VS 2015 and MSBuild Command Prompt for VS 2015. Both of these give me a command line window with 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0' as the directory.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1.

How do I start VS 2015

  • Hi,

directly inside All Programs you should have a Visual Studio 2015 Community link. That will start Visual Studio. This link is not inside the Visual Studio 2015 Community folder.

    With kind regards,

  • Hi msm98lw,

Start -> Programs-> Run or shortcut Windows Logo + R  and type the text given below.

    a) devenv : Opens VS IDE With Splash Screen.
    b) devenv /nosplash : Opens VS IDE Without Splash Screen.

And also you can find devenv application in

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0\Common7\IDE

And find devenv right click on it and make shortcut by Send to desktop to make shortcut for your Visual Studio 2015.

Hope this was helpful for you...

    Best regards!
