InfoPath 2007 only showing Site Columns and Site Content Types from the root Site Collection when trying to publish to the PWA Site Collectoin RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

At a client we are using the InfoPath 2007 client (Not Visual Studio) to create a basic web enabled form.

We have a Farm with two Site Collections:

    Issue Example:

As a test scenario we are using a blank form with a single text field named "txtTest"

As part of the publishing process we:

    • Set the server URL to the sub site collection (http://<servername>/PWA)
    • Set it to create an Administrator Approved template
    • File location to save the published template

When we are asked to map the fields to either create new site columns or map to existing site columns, we select an existing group (Microsoft Office InfoPath) and the only Site Columns available are those in the http://<servername>/ site collectrion.

When I try the same scenario on a different environment, I get the expected result of showing the Site Columns available in the http://<servername>/PWA site collection.

In the PWA site collection on the problem server, the Enterprise and Standard features are enabled under Site Collection Features and Site Features.

Has anybody seen this issue before or have any ideas on how to resolve?

    Kind Regards

  • Hello, Project Server is different to the way SharePoint data is organised. You would need to write a custom PSI event handler to achieve what you are trying to do. Please reference to the Project MSDN site for further information. Hope this helps to begin with.

  • Thanks Dharm,

I'm not sure that writing PSI event handlers in this case will help because although the form is sitting in the PWA site collection, we are not accessing or using any Project Server data or even acting upon a project being saved / published.

We are essentially using a Form Library that happens to sit in the PWA site collection.

Let me try to be clearer in my explanation:

I tell InfoPath to publish the form to http://<servername>/PWA - where /PWA is a site collection, but it presents with the information from the site collection at http://<servername>/

Even stranger is that when I try this on a seperate server, I get the right result.

As a result of this, I am not sure your solution will solve the issue, as I suspect it is server configuration being the problem.

Any thoughts you may have regarding this are gratefully received.

    Kind Regards
