How do I update a calculated column in one condition and not in the other cases RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want it like this:
    If Column1 = "sent" then Column2 = modified (date) else ... don't change anything

I dont know how to get this
If I write =IF([Column1]="sent";Modified)  then Column2 sets to "no" everytime I update (and not choose "sent")

If I write IF([Column1]="sent";Modified;) then Column2 sets to "1899-12-30" every time I update.  (and not choose "sent")

I want to save the date this was "sent" until next time it is ready to be sent (several updates might come in between)

  • You could do a couple of things with this:

    1. Create another date column that is called "Last Sent" and customize your form using jQuery to make the field required if the Column1 value = 'Sent'

    2. Create a simple workflow using SharePoint designer that updates the Column2 on item changed if the Column1 = "Send"

#2 above Would be the easiest way to accomplish this.

  • Thanks, i forgot to say that changing column1 to "sent" shall be the only way to change this date column
