Reading from SQL Server database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Just wondering whether there are any plans to extent the SQL Database reader functionality to SQL Server instances? At the moment, we have an SQL Server running on an Azure VM (we require functionality that goes beyond Azure SQL, so cannot simply migrate) which we need to copy to an SQL Database in order to read into Azure ML services. Obviously, this is a bit inefficient and incurs additional cost, and it would be better for Azure ML to connect to the SQL Server DB directly. Is this in the pipeline? Presumably, it's an almost identical workflow to the one that's there already?

    Thanks, James.

  • As long as the FQDN is *.cloudapp.net (which it should be if this is a SQL VM in Azure), it should work.
