memory dump cannot be generated RRS feed

  • Question

  • Well, recently have a big trouble:

Windows 8.1 64bit running on Dell Optiplex 960, 8GB of RAM. Memory dump cannot be generated.

    I tried CTRL+SCROLL+SCROLL, “notmyfailt”, they didn’t work.

Checked the following configuration and all seems right:

Pagefile, on C:\ drive (boot and system drive).

    Enough diskspace on C:\ drive.

Page file is managed by system. Also tried for force the page file to be 10GB size, still not work.

Dump file path either default, or configure to a different folder on C:\ drive, neither configuration would work.

Dump mode was configured to create complete dump.

If I set the “AutoReBoot” to true, it will just reboot. If uncheck that, system will just hung, and CTRL+SCROLL+SCROLL doesn’t help.

There’s no event log, only the “last shutdown is not clean…” etc.

    Any other advice?

    Thanks!

  • Ok, seems like debugger can capture the stop, and the ATI driver is making the trouble here:(

  • Hum, also, I have created multiple "checkpoints" for restore, and have HCK client installed as well as driver verifier enabled.

Also, this was the same yesterday, and after I installed all of QFE update (KB2976978, 3000483, 3115858, 3122654, 3123294, 3123862, 3124280, 3126041, 3126434, 3126446, 3126587, 3126593, 3127226, 3132080, 3134214, 3134814, 3135449 till KB3141092) and reboot, everything seems to work. However, by start from this morning, it back to what it looks like yesterday and doesn't work anymore.

Any one has any other idea?
