Refresh UAT Azure Data Warehouse With Production bacukp RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have been asked to refresh my UAT Azure Data warehouse using last backup from my Production Azure Data Warehouse. Both databases are in different subscription, Prod and UAT respectively. Can someone help on how this can be achieve using either azure portal or PowerShell?

  • Hi,

Currently the only way to do this cross subscriptions (that I know of) is to:

    1) Create a new server in the production subscription

    2) Restore a copy of the DW to this new server

    3) Move the server to the Dev Subscription

    4) Restore from this new server in the dev subscription to the old server in the dev subscription

  • Hi Kembiet,

    • Go to portal, access UAT SQL server
    • Click on new restore point
    • Go to production SQL DW
    • Click Restore
    • Select user Defined restore point
    • And Select OK

Should be able to restore, but it would have timestamp associated with your restore point and you need to rename it,

ALTER DATABASE MyTestDatabase MODIFY NAME = MyTestDatabaseCopy ; GO
