Net Framework errors RRS feed

  • Question

  • If this question isn't correct for this forum, please tell me where to post it.

I keep getting this error message on a Dell Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium:

Please set registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NetFramework\Installroot to point to the .NET Framework install location.

I have tried the .NetFramework repair tool to no avail.

I have tried dotnetfx clean up tool and reinstalling .Net Framework to no avail.

The installation says the .Net program has install successfully, but the netfx setup verifier says they are not.

Can someone please tell me how to get this fixed?

  • Dear den9429,

    Welcome to the MSDN forum.

Since your OS is Windows 7 and the .NET Framework requires Windows 7 SP1. If you have not yet installed SP1, you will need to do so before installing the .NET Framework, we can know it from: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8z6watww(v=vs.110).aspx

If you already upgraded to Windows 7 SP1, please make sure you installed all updates under Windows update, in case it caused the installation failed.

Which the .NET Framework version did you try to install? Did you only meet this error when you install .NET Framework or other times?

Meanwhile, I need your help to collect the installation logs. Please use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.zip under %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

    Best regards,

    Sara
