Cannot start MARS agent service - Process Terminated Unexpectedly 1067 RRS feed

  • Hello,

    We have a Hyper-V 2016 cluster which is replicated to Azure Site Recovery.

    After applying January patches 2 of 3 nodes, MARS agent service does not start. It says "Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly" 

    Uninstalling the patch / restarting the server didn't help. Event logs and ASR logs, do not reveal too much.

    We also use SCVMM 2016.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Edit: c:\Program Files\Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent\Temp\CBengineCurr.errlog says that "Capacity exceeds maximum capacity" and we have upgraded to latest MARS agent version 2.0.9106.0

  • This is how we resolved the issue:

    1. Uninstalled the MARS Agent

    2. Deleted all the files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent directory. This was a critical step to resolve the issue.

    3. Reinstalled the MARS agent.

    P.S. It would be good if such routine operation as patch installation would not break the agent.
