Azure Storage and sharing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi.  Pretty new to Azure.  We have an on premise AD and an Azure AD synced.  We've created a vm on azure and mapped a storage account/share here.  Our goal is to replace our current smb data shares and migrate to azure.  i am trying to setup a test to map an on premise device to azure storage authenticating again Azure AD.  Is this doable?

  • Hi,

If you require to access the Azure Storage from an On-prem device, you could try using Azure File Storage.
File storage offers shared storage for applications using the standard SMB 2.1 protocol.
Microsoft Azure virtual machines and cloud services can share file data across application components via mounted shares, and on-premises applications can access file data in a share via the File storage API.

You could refer the following link to access your Azure File storage from an ON-Prem device using File Storage API.

    Regards,
    Malar.
