I am new to Embedded and need some help on getting started, not sure if this is the best place to start or not, if not, please direct me where to go.
i have a smart book that runs Windows Embedded CE v6.00 and would like to know the steps to installing the operating system from scratch. Not the entire process but how to get started.
I do have an MSDN subscription with access to all the tools and i have downloaded the evaluation version as well, but i am just not sure what i have gotten into at this point. I had assumed you could just get the OS and install it but so far it appears that i have to build an OS from scratch using Visual Studio.
Would someone please give me some direction on this.

This forum is for XP Embedded. If you are trying to build a Windows CE image, you might want to look at a Windows CE newsgroup:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/embedded/aa731160.aspx. I don't think there is a Windows CE forum.
If you are looking to build WES2009/XPe, I have a video here that provides some basic instructions:
I have other information posted here: http://www.seanliming.com/Articles.html, http://www.seanliming.com/books.html
www.sjjmicro.com / www.seanliming.com, Book Author - XP Embedded Advanced, XPe Supplemental Toolkit, WEPOS / POS for .NET Step-by-Step
I had it in my head that Embedded was a little bit different. I guess they really can't have a set OS because there are so many different devices out there with different specs.
I am just going to setup my other computer with all the tools and dive into it.
