what's the difference between WebSocket and TCP, UDP, HTTP?

  • I found some websocket classes in Windows.Networking.Sockets namespace. how can i choose it instead of streamsocket and other sockets? what's the difference between WebSocket and TCP, UDP, HTTP?

  • Hi Fly,

    The Socket class is used to communicate at the socket level and enable network communication.  You would need to decide on the protocol you would like to use (HTTP, UDP, MYSUPERSPECIALINVENTEDPROTOCOL).  Each serves a particular purpose.  You can Bing those protocols to see what they each do.
