32-bit WCF on 64bit OS RRS feed

  • Question

  • My 32-bit WCF application (VS2008) uses a COM wrapper (Interop) tp talk to a 32-bit VC++ DLL. Everything works fine on my Windows 2003 Server.

We upgraded the ASP.Net application to VS 2010 and the application ran fine on the 2003 server.

Currently I need to move my application to a new Win 2008 Server(64-bit).

I am able to successfully register the Interop and the VC++ DLL (both 32-bit) on the server. But when I try to launch the application on IIS, I get the message stating that the Interop DLL is not in the correct format.

I have tried changing the configuration of the WCF project to x86, Any CPU, x64, etc and deployed on the server. For x86 and Any CPU, I am unable to register the Interop. It says the Interop is not of valid configuration. for x64, I cannot compile the project with the 32-bit VC++ DLL.

I have installed the Redistributables and SDK for VS2010 on the server.

Could someone please let me know how one should get a 32-bit VS2010 WCF application (with a VC++ DLL) running on a Windows 2008 Server?? Please help!
