  • Hi AlexMartini,

Yes, it’s common to use PowerPivot and BI for financial statement stuff. Power BI leverages existing Excel and SharePoint PowerPivot and Power View functionality and adds on a few cool new features.

We are working really hard to create content relevant for specific roles and industries but the advantage of Power BI and Desktop, it's similar experience with PowerPivot in excel for modeling. Financial statements has been widely covered by Excel experts on PowerPivot and they're all relevant to Power BI, including DAX code to create relevant measures, calculated column and visualizations. Here are some examples:

How Powerpivot can help financial reporting
    Powerpivot Pro financial posts
Excel financial sample you can import into Power BI Desktop (model)
Using Power BI to build Financial Dashboards

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

    Best Regards,
