Enhancement Request for IIS 6.0 Counters RRS feed

    Hi,

I have done some investigations for IIS 6.0 counters and have following queries for the same.

    1. Performance Monitor doesn't show "MaxCalSsl" counter for IIS 6.0

    Description:

This link displays the IIS 6.0 counters references. There is one counter "MaxCalSsl" which is documented on below link but not shown in Performance Monitor.

    http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/d6a66829-5f55-467f-84b7-a309385a476b.mspx?mfr=true

I have Windows server 2003 EE SP2 installed. So, is it  necessary to display in Technet article or something which is missed out from my side.

If it is not required then Please remove the reference of this counter from the all the documents of IIS 6.0 counter Reference to avoid inconsistency.

     2.  Typo mistake for the counter "Total Bytes Transferred" for IIS 6.0

    Comments:

        - "Total Bytes Transferred" is spelled as "Total Bytes Transfered"

[ In IIS 5.0 this counter is spelled correctly ]

    Thanks,

    Laxmikant (LK)

I cannot find any reference to that counter in that link you provided on FTP counters in IIS.

    However here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/d6a66829-5f55-467f-84b7-a309385a476b.mspx?mfr=true

talks about about CAL and SSL and your counter

Table D.8 lists the CAL (client access license) Count counters for the Web Service performance object, which are not valid in IIS 6.0. The value of these counters is always zero.

    Table D.8 CAL Count Counters
    Counter

Current CAL count for authenticated users

Maximum CAL count for authenticated users

Total count of failed CAL requests for authenticated users

Current CAL count for SSL connections

Maximum CAL count for SSL connections

Total count of failed CAL requests for SSL connections

So it appears it is designed not to appear in perforance monitor counter.

    Hi Rovastar,

      Thanks, for your comments.

Please visit Microsoft Technet link for IIS counter reference and under that just have look on "Web Service Counters" .

Table D.9 lists miscellaneous counters some of which are no longer valid, for the Web Service performance object. You will see last counter in that article i.e."MaxCalSsl".

The point is that my performance monitor shows all other counters which are not valid except above counter "MaxCalSsl".

Also ,Do you know how and where (links) to report bugs to Microsoft?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    LK
