EDGE cannot position popup windows RRS feed

  • Question

  • Microsoft's Edge browser appears to have lost the ability to set where small pop-up windows appear. I use the following snippet of JavaScript to set the position of a pop-up which is used when a user clicks in a particular field:

    var handle = window.open("../admin/file_upload_agenda.php",
    "mywindow","menubar=0,resizable=0,width=315,height=108,top=300,left=300");

    The problem is that the 'top=300,left=300' part is being ignored by Edge and it appears to be either opening directly in the top-left corner of the screen, or bizarrely if the window is maximised, just apparently spraying them randomly around the screen! It is quite an important usability feature for me as I don't want users to have to keep moving their mouse when they access the pop-up, so if anyone can shed some light on why Edge cannot do this, or an alternative fix, I'd be very grateful. For info, it works in EVERY other browser!

    Thanks in advance.
