Report Viewer Print Button RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm currently using the reportviewer in local mode, when I run the reports the viewer does not show a printer button even thow the properties indicate that it should.

Does anyone no why? I can export the report to a pdf file and then print it, however, that is an extra step that waits time. If I print it through the browser I get the navigation portion of the page as well, that's not good either.

  • The print control for Web forms in local mode uses an Active X control. Active X is only supported in Internet Explorer. Also, this print functionality was added in the VS 2008 version of Report Viewer and was not part of VS 2005.

  • Amir,
Client printing for local mode was a feature that was added to the ASP.NET ReportViewer control in VS 2008.

Technically, you can still work in VS 2005, install the redist for VS 2008 (runtime components only):  http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=bb196d5d-76c2-4a0e-9458-267d22b6aac6

And then change the assembly reference in your VS 2005 project to 9.0.0.0 from 8.0.0.0 (this include references of the project, the references on the pages, and all references in web.config.)
