Error when using SSMA (SSMA for Oracle 3.0.764) to migrate Oracle 9i Database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I got a problem when using SSMA 3.0 (SSMA for Oracle 3.0.764) to migrate my Oracle database schema and data.

    Environment:
    1) MSSQL2005 /w SP2, running on Win2003 R2 Enterprise Edition /w SP2, English
    - Installed: Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Oracle Extension Pack

    2) Oracle 9i database (9.2.0.8.0), running on Win2003 Std Edition /w SP2, TradChin (HK).
    - DB CharacterSet: ZHT16MSWIN950

    3) Oracle 9i client (9.2.0.8.0), running SSMA on my notebook, running on WinXP, SP2, TradChin (HK).
    - Installed:
Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant for Oracle
        Microsoft .NET v2.0.50727
Microsoft Visual J# Version 2.0 Redistributable Package
    - Oracle NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.ZHT16MSWIN950

    4) Oracle DB Schema info:
    - Schema only contain TABLE, nothing special (except one table have INDEX).
    - Nothing special on TABLE.COLUMN, mainly VARCHAR2, DATE, NUM.
    - No much data in table

    Error when migrating data:

    Migrating data...
    Analyzing metadata...
    Preparing table SOMEUSER.SOMETABLE...
    Preparing data migration package...
    Starting data migration agent...
    Starting data migration...
Exception during processing: System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
    Data migration complete.
     0 table(s) successfully migrated.
     0 table(s) partially migrated.
     9 tables failed to migrate.

I had install Oracle9i (9.2.0.8.0) + Oracle 8i client on my notebook, but ORACLE_HOME already set to Oracle9i folder.

    How to fix it???
