Is any of the MSR API from Windows Embedded for Point of Service portable to WinCE 6.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are in the process of developing a hand held computer that will include a Mag stripe reader.  It appears that in some O/S versions (XP for example) the MSR Class will handle a good deal of the task of decoding the information coming from a mag stripe reader.  I am trying to find out if any of this is portable into Windows CE 6.0 since that is the O/S that our device will run.

    Thanks,

  • No.WinCE 6.0 doesn't have any API for MSR.You need to port your code of XP into WinCE.

  • Windows CE doesn't support MSR API/Driver etc.... you have to create your own Stream driver and API set. if you have the source code for MSR class, you can port the necessary code (OS independent code like decoding etc..).
