When the database and application are not aligned... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to make use of LINQ to SQL when the database and application have not been designed in sync?

I'm trying to build a new OLTP application on top of an existing OLAP database, with a small handful of extra columns added to various tables to facilitate the needs of the application. Obviously, the structure of the database cannot be modified, since the data that's already there is considered valuable and many reports depend on the database as it exists today.

Would I be better off going with another data access technique?
