Azure file sync to migrate shares. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it possible to use Azure File Sync to migrate a shared drive from one server to another? My concerns would be that when I remove the final endpoint that the data would remove itself from the server (Azure File being the master)

Has anybody tried this with success?

    Regards,

    Paul.

  • I have since tested this and it looks to work a treat for migrating shares/data from one server to the other.

1 create an azure file in storage.

    2 Registered both servers

    3 created a sync group

4 created an endpoint on both servers, source pointing to the folder i wanted to migrate.

5 allow sync time and check contents is now the same size in both locations.

6 removed endpoints in sync group

    7 remove sync group

8 remove the azure file from storage.

    Regards,

    Paul.
