Showing filter in report RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Does any body know how can I add a textbook that shows the filter in VS report designer? I want this textbook so that after the report is generated the user will know how the data was filtered. Report builder adds such a textbook automatically but I couldn't find something like that in the report designer.

     any ideas?

    Thanks!

  • Choose your preferred solution:

    1) Declare a string parameter and fill it with your filter during report update, then print your filter parameter on report.

    2) Add a string data field in report DataSet, fill it with your filter string during report update, put this field in report.

I put an explample from a report update procedure:

    Me.mainDS.Tables("header").DefaultView(0).Item("filter") = ""

    Me.mainDS.Tables("header").DefaultView(0).Item("filter") &= " dal " & Me.udtpDal.Value.ToShortDateString

  • Thanks! I might consider this if it's the only way, but I was actually wondering if there is a way to do it in the design view.. :)
