Microsoft Store Ads bring DirectX to it knees RRS feed

  • I am notice a huge performance hit when I make the ad stackpanel visible. I am writing an app in C++ with DirectX and XAML. I make the ads visible after the main screen comes and when I do it brings the DirectX rendering to a crawl - goes from 60 FPS to 4 FPS for a second or 2 and then recovers over the next couple of seconds.  I also notice when the ads change it has similar effect on the performance but not quite as bad.  It even effects the sounds that are currently playing making them stutter, for lack of a better word.  I am using VS2013 RC Update 2 now but was having the same issues before the update as well.

    Any thoughts on how to counteract this?

    NOTE: If I ask for code, please provide something that I can drop directly into a project and run (including XAML), or an actual application project. I'm trying to help a lot of people, so I don't have time to figure out weird snippets with undefined objects and unknown namespaces.
