Grab data from real time input RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I am using vb.net 2005.
I create a stored procedure to populate data from database to the report.
On the report there is a column is called "reason". This column doesn't exist in the database.
The values are obtained by real time input from windows form.
I have no idea to do it.
I think ReportParameter only for one value instead of a column.

  • Yes, its possible.

You can have your 'Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportDataSource' take an array of objects. Each object would be an instance of a class that wraps a 'DataRow', in this wrapper class you can add additional properties that refer to anything you want (e.g. be filled in by the form).  Kinda difficult to explain...not sure if that makes any sense.

I assume you are using the ReportViewer in VS, not the ReportingServices in SQL. The Report won't update 'live' (you have to tell it to Refresh)

  • Also, you don't have to make a wrapper class around your 'DataRow', you can just programatically add the column to the DataTable that is retrieved from the stored procedure.  Then the form can fill in that value as necessary.  This might be easier in your situation.
