ODBC Access Driver Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have OFFICE 2010 32bit environment on 64 bit OS server 2008.

I am trying to create an ODBC connection to one of my 32bit Access Database.

The application where I will use this connection can accept only 64bit ODBC connection for example in my application when I select ‘Browse’ option for ODBC connections then it shows only connections that are created in 64bit ODBC Data Source Admin.

When I try to create ODBC connection in 64bit ODBC DATA SOURCE ADMINISTRATOR, It does not list Access data base driver. Is it because I have 32 bit office? If yes then is there any way to add 32 bit Access database driver here in 64bit ODBC. I tried successful connection in 32bit already but that connection won’t show in my Application so I can’t use it. I want this 32 bit access driver to be added in 64bit USER DSN/System DSN in ODBC DATA SOURCE ADMINISTRATOR. Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Here is what i did to get the connection run successfully.

click start "Run" and type   c:\windows\system32\odbcad32.exe

this will open 64 bit ODBC Data Source Administrator window.

click on Systen  DSN tab and click Add to add your connection and follow the instruction to complete the connection. Thanks
