App Chrash RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

I have created an application for document processing. The application is working fine over the years. We have started facing App Crash error message after closing the application. We observed that application is working fine but after closing the application we are getting the App Crash error message.

We have added the 'Application_ThreadException' and 'CurrentDomain_UnhandledException' event handler methods but that exception is not caught by those methods.

We have developed the application in .Net framework 4.0 with 32 bit (C#). We have used some assemblies of .Net framework 2.0.

Faulting application name: MyProject.exe, version: 3.0.0.12, time stamp: 0x5d4c1cb7
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.3.9600.19358, time stamp: 0x5ccf981a
    Exception code: 0xc0020001
    Fault offset: 0x00013ce8
    Faulting process id: 0x444
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d54dea0c8f5227
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\MyProject\MyProject.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\KERNELBASE.dll
    Report Id: 68b64737-b9dd-11e9-80e3-00155d010e01
    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:

Please let us know what can be the possible reasons for that exception.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hey Eckis,

As I said this is happening after closing the application. I have debugged the code and observed that it completes all the processing successfully without any error. But some how it manage to throw that exception.

This exception message is displaying into the Event Viewer as even Visual Studio is not able to caught any exception.

    Thanks

  • then enable writing a dump file for the application:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\MyProject.exe]
    "DumpType"=dword:00000001
After the next crash, a dmp file should be in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps

  • Hi Rahul1410,

    Thank you for posting here.

According to your question, you find that the exception message is displaying into the Event Viewer.

Could you provide more descriptions about your exception in Event Viewer?

Besides, I note that the fault module: KERNELBASE.dll is a DLL file stored in the system folder of Windows operating system.

Did you do any update about your operating system recently?

We are waiting for your update.

    Best Regards,

    Xingyu Zhao

  • Hey EckiS,

I have enabled the writing of dump file. The strange thing is that it is showing 0 crash when I opened the file in BlueScreenView application.

Please let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks

  • BlueScreenView is for system crashes, not for debugging user mode dumps.
You can either open the file in Visual Studio, or in Windbg.
Or you share it with us.
