IpEnableRouter parameter in Windows CE 6.0 and Remote Access Service RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello:

I have a customer that concerned with the Registry entry of IpEnableRouter in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip\Parms being set at '1'.

Not sure why this parameter was set to a '1 in the first place.  What happens if I change the value to '0'?

Does the IpEnableRouter value have any relationship to RAS(Remote Access Service) in some way?

  • Hi,

This registry entry would be required if you want ICS i.e. Internet Connection Sharing enabled in the OS image.

As the name itself suggests , this can help you to route packets between two different NICs connected to two different networks.
