Setting tpm.SetPhysicalPresenceRequest value to SetNoPPIClear_True on windows 8.x RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

    I am running WHCK tests on a windows 8.1 machine, and I found the next little script in the help file:

    $Tpm = Get-WmiObject -class Win32_Tpm -namespace "root\CIMv2\Security\MicrosoftTpm"

    $ConfirmationStatus = $Tpm.GetPhysicalPresenceConfirmationStatus(22).ConfirmationStatus

    if($ConfirmationStatus -ne 4) {$Tpm.SetPhysicalPresenceRequest(18)}

    This is very useful for me, as I can run tests without having to press F12 every time the machine boots. However, the documentation for the 'Tpm.SetPhysicalPresenceRequest' method states about the value 18: "Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista, and Windows Server 2008:  This value is not supported."

    Now, it does say anything about windows 8. Am I to understand that the documentation is not updated, or that it is supported in windows 8? I'm asking because after running the script the machine's behavior is not consistent and I am sometime required to hit F12 on boot.

    Many thanks :)
