What languages are supported by speech synthesis?

    Question

  • Is there a list of languages somewhere that describes which languages have voice support for Win 8.1? I am trying to use the speech synthesis APIs in the Windows.Media.SpeechSynthesis namespace for an app that supports multiple languages.

For example, I installed the French language pack and was able to use the speech synthesis with it, but the Finnish language pack doesn't seem to have any voice support.

  • I've found this list of languages in the documentation: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/windows.media.speechsynthesis.voiceinformation.language.aspx
