Oracle Data Connections - Cannot see any Packages

    Question

  • Hi,

I cannot see any of the Packages in an Oracle database. I have VS2015 with the Oracle .Net tools installed on a Win7 box.

    • I created a new connection to an Oracle database
    • I then went into the connection's Filters and set the filter to a different schema
    • I can see the tables ok, but I cannot see any of the packages

When I connect to the same DB with the same account using TOAD, I am able to see the packages. So, I do have access to view the Packages.

Any advice/suggestions on how to solve this?

    Thank you for your help.

  • Hi,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

Please have a look at this: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e10767/building_odt.htm#TDPNG50010 and you could download Oracle developer tools for visual studio by going to tools->extensions and updates. After this, connecting to the Oracle database.

Meanwhile, please refer to here: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/kaevans/2009/07/18/connecting-to-oracle-from-visual-studio/

    Best regards,

    Joyce

  • Hi Joyce,

    Thank you for the reply.

I already have Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio 12.1.0.2.4 install and connect to an Oracle DB ok. After connecting to an Oracle DB, I can see tables but I cannot see anything in packages.

When I do the same in another tool, I can see the packages.

    Regards,

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

It seems this issue is more related to Oracle database, and Oracle has its own forum to support this kind of issue.
