update the location of Silverlightapplication1.xap file RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Hello,

I have a silverlightapplication project. it consist of the standard SilverlightApplication1 (with the silverlight control) and the SilverlightApplication1Web (with the .aspx and .html) page. When i compile the SilverlightApplication1TestPage.aspx it keeps compiling with the old ClientBin\SilverlightApplication1.xap control. Somewhere the synchronisation between the SilverlightApplication1 and the SilverlightApplication1Web project is lost.  Where can i set/change the location of this .xap file?

  • Yes, you can change the location of the output XAP file.
    Do the following:

1 Right click on the Web Application project.
2 Click on the "Property Pages".
3 Click on "Silverlight Applications" from the left panel.
4 Click the project name from the right panel.
    5 Click Remove.
    6 Click on Yes.
    7 Click on "Add".
8 Now, you can choose the output location.
9 Clear the "Destination folder" textbox ("ClientBin" will be there by default).
    10 Click "Add".
    11   Click "Yes" -> "Yes".
    12 Now build your solution.
13 You will get the output XAP in the mentioned location.

  •  you can set it in the project properties => build => output directory => change to directory (before this gave errors).

but the standard setting  sets the location directory of the .xap file  to Bin\Debug of the SilverlightApplication1 project and doesn't have to explicit set to Clientbin directory of SilverlightApplication1Web project, this confuses me.
