Downloading files from Media Services / Blob Storage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
I have a need for clients to Download content from blob storage / media services through our Web portal.
From what I can see we have three different ways of doing this right now:

    - One way is to right click a SAS url and press "Save Target As". But this isnt how I want to do it, I want a Download-button that prompts the "Save As" dialogue, customers shouldnt have to right click on links and do the "save target as" procedure.
    - The other way is to use the html5 download attribute. BUT.. This isnt supported in all browsers yet.

The third way that I would normally use is the HttpResponse header "content-disposition", "attachment; filename="" approach, but I don't see a way to do this without caching the files on my server - And since we deliver large video files we can't keep cached copies on our server for customers to download them.

So, is there perhaps a way to have your Rest-API return a Response with the content disposition header attached? Or do you have any other solutions?
