Just starting out, what should I do??

Question

 Hi all,

I have been working with servers/support for over 8 years now but have never bothered with any exams. I would like to know what i should do regarding exams. Should i go for the mcsa/mcse 2003 or should i go down the new exam route.

Any help would be great, I already have the 70-270 in XP

Well with 270 done you are off to a start for the MCSA/MCSE, but you need to look at why you want to become certified to help decide which track is best for you. Are you staying where you are or do you plan to transition jobs in the near future? Do you know if the company you work for is an "early adoptor?"

I would suggest if you feel confident in your Server 2003 knowledge you go ahead and start there with the MCSA/MCSE track and look to take the Server 2008 exams later to acomplish both sets of certifications.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

I'm not sure. Basically i aim to stay where i am at present as i love my job but things could change. I want to make sure that i have the right qualifications to back up my years in the industry.

I just didnt want to waste any time as i think am already behind in terms of qualifications.

I really don't think you'd be wasting your time taking Server 2003 exams.
