Installation: AS2 server configuration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good afternoon Guys,

This question must've been asked a thousand time before. But I can't find a proper solution for it.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 32-bit and Biztalk Server 2010 Developer edition in a Virtual PC environment. One of our developers wants to be able to test in his own enviromnent and cut off from the network.

Installation goes fine, until I want to installed EDI / AS2. When I select EDI alone, then the feature gets installed correctly, the moment I check the AS2 checkbox in the server configuration manager, the installation failes.

I find the following in the install log:

I've tried the usual thing by using the following command:

    c:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010\Tracking>bm.exe remove-all -DefinitionFile:"c:\program files\Microsoft Biztalk Server 2010\AS2ReportingActivityDefs.xml"

This did not solve the issue.

Somewhere else around the web I found that his issue could also be related to the fact that SQL Integration Services aren't properly installed. But I'm using SQL Server 2008 developer edition, Integration Services is only limited supported.

Should I conclude that it isn't possible to install the AS2 module on a BT2010 Developer Edition?

Thank for any assistance you can provide.

    Kind Regards,

    Tom

  • The error about the DTS / SSIS packages refers to BAM packages that get installed with BAM rather than activity deployments. I have seen this error when configuring BizTalk for BAM and the databases are not successfully created and then an attempt is made to configure BAM again but it errors out with this message. So I would try removing these packages through management studio.

    Thanks,

  • First of all it looks like you are using SqlExpress. I reccomend using a full version of the product rather than SqlExpress. I noticed this line:

    • Failed to deploy BAM activity definitions. Please make sure that all BAM related Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages are removed along with the BAM databases

Can you open SQL management studio and then switch over to SSIS where it shows the BAM packages? If you hit an error when configuring BAM then you have to delete all of the created packages so it can recreate them. You also have to remove all the BAM databases before retrying to configure BAM.

    Thanks,

  • Hello Ben,

    Thank you for your reply.

I am indeed using SQL Server Express because the idea is to have a development virtual machine, which would mean that we don't have to license the software. I've already installed the above in a Production Environment using SQL Server 2008 R2 ENT + Biztalk 2010 ENT without any issue. Now I'm trying to create a vhd image for our developers to use.

I will try your suggestion, I thought however that the following command did exactly the same:

    c:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2010\Tracking>bm.exe remove-all -DefinitionFile:"c:\program files\Microsoft Biztalk Server 2010\AS2ReportingActivityDefs.xml"

    Thank you.

    Kind Regards,

    Tom
