Sign macro with self certificate RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having some trouble signing a macro in Outlook 2010's VBA:

I made a certificate using the Digital Certificate for VBA Projects tool.

I've added that certificate to the Trusted Certificate Authorities

In VBA, I select Tools->Digital Certificate, pick my certificate.  It's name now appears, and if I hit Details... then its info pops up.  I then hit OK.

Immediately I go back in to Tools->Digital Certificate.  It lists the name of my certificate but hitting Details... does absolutely nothing.  The certificate is not functioning either: the macro will not run, or trigger the popup asking to trust the certificate.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi Iain King,

Thank you for posting in the MSDN Forum.

I think that is because you haven't saved your workbook. You can save your workbook into a .xlsm file, then open it again. This time when you click at the Detail button, the details will popup.

    Hope it helps.
