  • If you just need to convert 50 tables, try Import and Export Data tool supplied with SQL Server.

  • Hello,

If 50 tables is all that you want to migrate, you can use Ispirer SQLWays demo version. As far as I know their demo version allows to migrate up to 100 tables and 2 GB of data. You can easily download SQLWays demo on Ispirer website.

  • If you dont want to use third party softwares, What you need to do is to use any Data Modeling tool and do the Reverse Engineering to generate the Schema. Create the tables and Import the Data using SQL Import Export or SSIS.

  • Hi,

I migrated 70 tables using the wizard one table at a time since I didn't want to pay for expensive third party data migration tools and we have a policy of not using any software that is not 'open source' that is must be free. I saved postgres data as excel output file and migrated it using wizard from excel to sql server. Everything worked until I tried a relatively small table approx 270k rows (apparently too big for wizard) with 75 columns and nothing worked. It took me two days to figure out a way to move the data after jumping several hoops. None of the common tools such as ODBC etc for connectivity worked for me. So I have one interface to use postgres and another for sql server (SSMS). I would like to use one interface (has to be as good has SSMS or better) for both if possible. Good luck.

  • Did you try using a full fledged SSIS package with data flow tasks to migrate data from your required tables?

  • Hello,

did anybody try this tool: https://www.convert-in.com/pgs2mss.htm

Will this work for migrating PostgreSQL database with 118 tables, indexes, foreign keys, views and triggers to SQL Server?
