Postgres Data Provider RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
Im looking for a postgres data provider with visual studio integration. I've come across the devart dotConnect suite of components and im leaning towards that.
Does anyone have any other suggestions i could look at or is the dotConnect stuff worth it?

I have tried Npgsql but the lack of ide integration is a problem

    TIA

  • Hi,

One alternative is that you can use an ODBC or OLEDB driver for Postgres to connect using Microsoft's ODBC or OLEDB data providers (i.e. System.Data.Odbc.OdbcConnection or System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection).

Here are some ODBC/OLEDB providers I've found from a web search, but I haven't personally tried any of them:

PostgreSQL OLEDB Provider for Windows: http://pgfoundry.org/projects/oledb/
PostgreSQL Native OLEDB Provider (PGNP): http://www.pgoledb.com/
    PostgreSQL ODBC Driver: http://pgfoundry.org/projects/psqlodbc/

    Hope this helps.
