Help file for WDP (Win8)/Metro? RRS feed

  • Question

  • WDP seems interesting so far. I installed it on an older underpowered laptop

    (2.0 score in W7)

but - how do you quit the apps?

they don't seem to auto-quit when leaving (Labyrynth music kept playing) to Start menu

unless only a new app ends a previous one? (simulates mono-tasking?)(

    Start menu appearance seems random.

So so far I feel a loss of control.

Cant end apps, cant dependably invoke Start menu

(pls note i said meenu not button)

Nice for a beta but needs fine-tuning

Also it was unable to repair my hosed W7 (should have been only a boot problem)

yet it did (say it found) my W7 and moved to windows.old

  • Hey there,

For Metro style apps in the Windows Developer Preview, they will actually go to a suspend mode when not in use/active. The idea is for the system to manage the Metro style applications, and should automatically close applications as system resources are being allocated. You can open task manager to see in more detail the apps that are running and suspended. The apps that are suspended, I believe do not use CPU cycles, so it's not using any CPU cycles while suspended.

    Thanks,

    Bobby
