SharePoint 2013 workflows - Send due date reminder mails - List with 15K items RRS feed

  • Is it a good practice to use workflow (pause until date approach) to trigger due date reminder mails for requests stored in a list, maximum of 15K items in a list and maximum of 5 lists in single site collection.

  • Hi,

    The answer is Yes. The performance of your system will be affect if all the list items are "in Progress" status.

    This will degrade browser performance. Maybe increase the time when you open your site. Maybe cannot load some pages in your site.

    The most important, your workflow may not working. Stuck at "In Progress" status or cause workflow initiation to time out.

    You can use workflow to send due date reminder emails:

    Pay attention, there is a List View Threshold in SharePoint. So we suggest you keep your list items in more lists for better performance.

    Thanks for the reply.

    In our environment list threshold is well above 15K and my question is that will it cause any performance issues if 15K workflows which all will be in 'In Progress' status at the initial point.
