  • Hi Chris,

    Thank you for your post.

According to information you provided, you failed to install .NET Framework 4.

Could you please let me know what version and Service Pack level your OS is?

Would you let me know which file you want to modify your security privileges on?

    Here is my suggestion:

    ·         I recommend you verify the .NET Framework you have installed using Verification Tool.

    Verification Tool: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/10/13/8999004.aspx

You can upload the result here.

    ·         After you verify them, if you have not installed .NET Framework 4, I suggest you download Standalone version and reinstall it.

if you have installed .NET Framework 4, I advise you to uninstall it and download Standalone version to install.

.NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=0a391abd-25c1-4fc0-919f-b21f31ab88b7

    ·         Please clean up your “%temp%” folder (Start>>Run>>%temp%)

    ·         When you begin to install it, I advise you to disable your anti-virus software and security software.

    ·         Please run the setup file with Administrator privileges: Right-click the installer > Run as administrator.

If the problem still exists after these steps, could you please collect the log for me?

    ·         Collect the logs from "%temp%" folder with the Log Collection Tool.

    Collect tool: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e0da314f-6216-4a18-bc6b-7d29cf83af20&displaylang=en

    ·         Send the vslogs.cab file to me (E-mail: v-alsun@microsoft.com).

If you have any concern, please feel free to let me know.

  • In order to discover the unique circumstances on your computer that are causing this issue, we need detailed information.

Please tell us what Windows version and service pack level you are running.

Please use this tool to collect the installation logs:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=e0da314f-6216-4a18-bc6b-7d29cf83af20&displaylang=en

After you run Collect.exe, you will find the file vslogs.cab in your %temp% directory.

Upload vslogs.cab to a public site, like SkyDrive, and post the link here.
