Canon XF305 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Can anyone tell me the best capture card to buy to connect my Canon XF 305 to my computer for live streaming content. I have a Xeon quad core 3.4 GHz processor,Radeon HD 7980 video card, and 32 GB DDR3-1333 RAM in the box already but I need a capture card that will work with Encoder Pro 4. I was planing on using HDMI to conect but if there is a big advantage to HD-SDI I will go that route instead. I am still new to live streaming and I am having a very hard time finding a reliable source for compatibility information.

  • Hi Bill:

The Black Magic Intensity Cards (HDMI) work well with Expression. They are reasonably priced (approximately $200). I wouldn't bother with HD-SDI if you don't have to as the cards are WAY more expensive and not really any better than HDMI IMO. Personally, I would set the camera to Progressive output if possible (e.g., 720p) to avoid de-interlacing, which kills the CPU etc.
