When does Bing map updates with newly constructed community? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

I would like to know when does bing map updates with the newly constructed homes. I am living in a community in the WA state that has been built in 2013-2014 but still on the map I cant see the streets and it still shows plain land there, where-as there are houses in there.

I can't put my address in the bing maps to get directions or view the exact location.

    Thanks.

    Nikhil

  • The timeline varies. The data first needs to be captured (drove) by the data provider for Bing Maps. In the US, the main data provider is NAVTEQ (owned by HERE maps). Once they capture that data it takes a few months for it to go through quality control and then be published. Some areas are updated fairly quickly if our data provider knows about them, while others may take a while to discover. Often when we capture new aerial imagery (every 2 -3 years), we are able to use that to find new locations that need to be mapped. Can you provide some information on where these new homes are located and I will check to see if our data provider has captured this data yet or not.

  • Ok, good news. I'm pretty sure I found the missing area. Looking into this, it appears our data provider just recently drove these roads. This means this data will likely be added to Bing Maps in one of our next data updates sometime this year.

  • These new homes are built up on the Issaquah Highlands (zip code: 98029)
