Azure App Service + Azure SQL Database VNet integration - access by internal (LAN) users RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have express router connectivity into Azure - various Vnets,

Will the internal users be able to connect to Azure App Service (via http\https) and SQL server (management studio) if they are connected to one of the VNETs that is integrated with Express Route.

Is there anything that would stop this from happening

    Thanks

  • Speaking to the web app portion, yes, you will be able to access your azure app service via HTTP protocol assuming you have connected your app to a regional VNET as described in this article, which ensures compatibility with your Expressroute.

In regards to the SQL server, you may receive a more thorough answer by splitting your question off into the MSDN SQL Server section. There are many variables (on-prem vs. Azure, IaaS vs PaaS, how is it connected to your environment, etc.) that would impact this answer so I think it would be worth asking a SQL expert who can speak to these requirements.
