BizTalk Adapter for FTPS or HTTPS RRS feed

Answers

  • You can use the Microsoft BizTalk HTTP adapter with HTTPS. Microsoft does not provide a secure FTP adapter like FTPS (FTP over SSL) or SFTP. You need a 3rd party adapter like the ones by N Software (http://www.nsoftware.com/kb/tutorials/biztalkftpadapter.aspx) to do this. There is also at least one community supported SFTP adapter.

    Thanks,

  • It's important to understand what you mean by "Secure File Transfer". SFTP and FTPS does sound very much the same, but are two very different protocols. I've found it differcult to make use of the FTPS protocol since it's implemented differently on various platforms and servers products. The SFTP protocol is much more secure, but is not a native Windows protocol. On the up-side though, -it is very platform generic and works well for communications cross plattforms.

The community adapter Ben mentioned can be found at Codeplex: http://www.codeplex.com/sftpadapter

  • I've used Eric's FTPS Adapter and have to say it was pretty cool.  He did a really good job with it.  I think you probably could write your own, but Eric's works well, even tests the capabilities of the FTPS server for you.
