Deploying custom CSS, jQuery and JavaScript on 15 Hive RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

There is a business requirement where developers are creating a creating common custom CSS, jQuery and JavaScript that has to be deployed to the 15 hive and these CSS, JavaScript will be referenced by all the web applications.

    1. Which is best way to deploy these custom files on to SharePoint 2013 environment? Does copy these files manually to application and web server right approach?
    2. Does providing farm scope in Visual Studio 2013, using SharePoint Mapped Folders and deploy these files can be used?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

  • The best way is to use mapped folder from Visual Studio.

You can add a mapped folder to Layouts and put your jquery and javascript files in it under a personal folder.

And put your css files under a mapped folder to layouts/{LCID}/styles

    Hope this helps.

  • No scope-limitation here, you need to add your folder in your solution and map it to the right Hive folder, and that's it. The solution may need to be a farm-solution. Once you add and install your solution on your environment, you can see your custom files in the Hive folders.

  • Hi Jihad,

    Thanks for your reply.
So when development team common CSS, JavaScript using SharePoint mapped folder, will all the SharePoint servers Application and Web Servers be automatically to 15 Hive?

What scope should we use? Farm, Web Application in Visual Studio?

    Thanks in advanced.
