Upload package to windows store dashboard RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

I am trying to update and existing windows 8 app but when I load my package I see that is not validated.

I am having this error: "you  must have extended validation capability  ".

The previous build was not uploaded by me.

I am creating the packages from Visual Studio 2012 ....i can see the certificate in "packaging" tab ...everything seems fine but when to upload i have this error.

The file which i am uploading is the ".appxupload" format.

    Am i missing something?

  • Are you declaring the documentsLibrary capability in you manifest? If so, and you're a developer (not a company), then you must indeed demonstrate Extended Validation capability, as explained here.

  • Yes i am declaring "documentsLibrabry" in my manifest and I am a developer.

The application was created by a company and now i am trying to update it.

  • The documentsLibrary capability has significant restrictions. As Diederik notes, it can only be used from an account with an Extended Validation certificate and then must be used appropriately.

See Dealing with Documents: How (not) to use the documentsLibrary capability in Windows Store apps for suggestions on how to write your app without relying on documentsLibrary.
