error installing vs2013 express RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am unable to install vs2013 express; I get an error message about .net framework 4.5.1 and hotfix (KB2664825). I searched the internet and got millions of hits about unrelated issues. I read about the hotfix; it refers to sql server 2008 and offers no solution to the problem. How can I resolve this issue?

  • A newer post (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/724db0ab-8afb-4092-89fc-222ab212ea6b/visual-studio-express-2013-install-failure-solved?forum=vssetup) suggests burning the iso to a dvd. I followed the instructions though I did use Win7's iso to dvd program. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. The .NET framework problem disappeared and now there's a new one with VC++. As I said in the above mentioned post, we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but this sours me on the whole VS2013 thing.

  • Please share complete install logs for analysis as follows:

Please collect your install logs with this:

    http://aka.ms/vscollect

After you run Collect.exe, you'll find vslogs.cab in your %temp% directory. Please upload the file to https://skydrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

  • Thanks for the offer, but I'll pass. It sounds like it's more trouble than it's worth. I've seen a fair number of posts regarding installation problems with VS2013; so I'll just wait a few months and see if MS manages to fix them.

  • Hi,

If you want to solve your issue quickly, you should share the detailed error message.

And could upload installation log as pvdg42 said.

Some issue maybe caused by different problem, so we need to analyse every issue for getting a best way to fix it.

"I followed the instructions though I did use Win7's iso to dvd program. "

You burned win7's iso to DVD for reinstall OS?

In other thread which link you posted, there is these words:

"3) Burned the VS2013_RTM_DskExp_ENU.iso file to a DVD using InfraRecorder."

It burned VS's ISO to DVD for reinstall VS.

If i misunderstand you, please feel free to let me know.
