  • Copying HDD Raw Disk / Cloning HDD Raw disk ? How do i do that ? 

    Any Help Appreciated.

  • First understand if a partition is formatted you cannot open it and copy it, this is a security feature.  If you are looking to develop a driver this can be done with a disk filter.  The OS has services / tools for cloning the a drive, so look carefully before you try to roll your own.

    Windows does provide the Disk class driver as a sample this is the actual disk driver for the operating system and shows you what the requests are. The Windows 8 WDK had the Diskperf filter, this is a complete filter driver for a disk, unfortunately it is still a WDM driver.  I would use the two drivers just mentioned to develop a KMDF filter driver.

    The following software is cloning the whole physical disk ?

    How it's doing ? And how come i can't do it ? 

    Please advice weather i can't clone it or not ?

  • I have no idea how the program works, I don't download random software from the web.  I suspect it has a disk filter, but there are other hacks that can do this.

    The bottom line is you cannot do this without some effort, because otherwise it would be too easy to clone a drive, then take it to another system where you have administrative privileges and read someone else's data.
