  • Hi ,

    Can we retrieve audit log data programatically using sharepoint Out of box web services?

    please do not suggest solutions relevant to server object modelling

    May be true.  I feel the product group would have provided something better than nothing. 

    But now that's fine , since we do not have any option , we will try to work with custom web service having server object model in place

  • Hi, 

    Thanks for your response. Any idea on why this was not provided as sharepoint OOB service? I see no  harm in allowing read data for audit log through web services

  • No, I'm not sure as to why the product group made that decision. Remember the audit data is not a normal list, it has its own special table in the database. It can also be very slow to query.
